KARL FERDINAND BRAUN PRIZE 1987 -
2008 winners
The Karl Ferdinand Braun Prize is awarded for an
outstanding technical achievement in, or contribution to,
display technology. The award is made by the Board of
Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and
Awards Committee and carries a stipend of US $2000.
JAN RAJCHMAN PRIZE 1993 -
2008
winners
The Jan Rajchman Prize is awarded for an outstanding
scientific or technical achievement in, or contribution to,
research on flat panel displays. The award is made by the
Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors
and Awards Committee and carries a stipend of US
$2000.
OTTO SCHADE PRIZE 2006 -
2008 winners
The Otto Schade Prize in Display Performance and Image
Quality is awarded for an outstanding scientific or technical
achievement in, or contribution to, the advancement of
functional performance and/or image quality of information
displays. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting
on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee and
carries a stipend of US $2000.
SLOTTOW–OWAKI PRIZE 2007
- 2008 winners
The Slottow–Owaki prize for Outstanding Contributions to
Information-Display Education is awarded for “Outstanding
Contributions to Personnel Training in the Field of
Information Display.” The outstanding education recognized by
this prize is not limited to a formal university experience,
but this award may also be given to researchers, engineers,
managers, as well as professors who have done an outstanding
job developing information-display professionals. To be
eligible for this award, the candidate does not necessarily
have to be a member of SID. The Slottow–Owaki prize carries
a $2000 stipend made possible by a generous gift from Fujitsu
Corp. and Professor Tsutae Shinoda.
JOHANN GUTENBERG PRIZE 1987 -
2007 winners
The Johann Gutenberg Prize is awarded for an outstanding
technical achievement in, or contribution to, printer
technology. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting
on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee and
carries a stipend of US $2000.
LEWIS AND BEATRICE WINNER AWARD 1983
- 2007 winners
The Lewis and Beatrice Winner Award for Distinguished
service is awardedperiodically, but not more than once each
year, to a Society member for exceptional and
sustained service to SID. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of
the Honors and Awards Committee.
FRANCES RICE DARNE MEMORIAL AWARD (Francis
Rice Darne Bio) 1971
- 1986 winners
The Frances Rice Darne Memorial Award, discontinued in
1987, was awarded periodically to a Society member for an
outstanding technical achievement (other than teaching,
publication or service) or contribution to the display field.
The award was made by the SID Board of Directors.
FELLOWS OF THE SID 1963 -
2008
recipients
The grade of Fellow is one of unusual professional
distinction conferred by the Board of Directors, acting on the
recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee, upon a SID
member of outstanding qualifications and experience as a
scientist or engineer in the field of information display. The
candidate shall have been a member of the Society for five
years and shall have made a widely recognized and significant
contribution to the advancement of the field. The nomination
must be supported and signed by at least five members in good
standing.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDS 1972 -
2008 winners
Special recognition awards are given to members of the
technical and scientific community, not necessarily SID
members, for distinguished and valued contributions to the
information display field. These awards may be made for
contributions in one or more of the following categories
-
a. Outstanding technical accomplishments
b. Outstanding contributions to the literature
c. Outstanding service to the Society
SENIOR MEMBER List
of Senior Members
Senior Members are those individuals who are recognized to
have made significant technical contributions to the
advancement of displays and who have demonstrated active
participation in the display community and in SID.
